Product Overview

In the case of relative movements, which occur, for example, when driving an automobile, unpleasant interfering noises in the form of squeaking and creaking noises can occur between material pairs.

Approximately half of the problems caused by this noise can be traced back to incompatibilities of material combinations. Many problems can therefore be avoided or eliminated in advance by preventing relative movements or, if this is objectively not possible, by selecting a suitable material.

Based on more than 10,000 individual measurements, Ziegler-Instruments has compiled a material database which contains a large part of the materials and material combinations commonly available on the market.

Each material combination is stored with approximately 30 individual criterias, which refer to different groups, for example the material trade name and supplier. Another one characterises the surface properties in terms of structure, grain and other details. A third refers to external parameters such as normal force, velocity, temperature and humidity.

A simple search function allows to find results of critical material pairs quickly. The combination of preventive noise elimination and CAE-based software solutions offers great benefits.
