Moving from offboard DAS to a DTS in-dummy DAS solution offers many benefits for testing with any anthropomorphic test device (ATD), crash test dummy, or test manikin. DTS in-dummy DAS systems are used for a variety of product development, safety testing, and injury biomechanics research. As a leader in the industry, DTS developed the first in-dummy data acquisition solution for a regulation crash test dummy.

1 .BENEFIT: Minimizes Cabling & Connectors

Embedding the DAS reduces in-dummy cabling by up to 75%, eliminating the mass and noise caused by long sensor cables. A single exit cable replaces the mass of bulky trailing umbilical cables that can affect dummy positioning and target weight. Embedded DAS also minimizes the potential points of failure created by all the cables and connectors inherent in offboard DAS.

2. BENEFIT: Reduces Test Setup Time

Embedding the DAS inside the ATD means less prep time which helps keep test schedules on time and on track. Fewer cables increases data reliability and helps maintain proper dummy mass and center of gravity (CoG). SLICE6 DAS features built-in triaxial tilt sensor for easier dummy positioning, plus temperature logging.

DataPRO Software

DataPRO is a powerful set-up, control and data viewing software for DTS hardware. The intuitive user interface is designed to help test engineers create, control and manage every aspect of a test. DataPRO makes it easy to access complete sensor and hardware details, plus share test information via standalone or centralized SQL databases. Key features include integrated off-line test builder, extensive ISO MME database, enhanced diagnostic tools, multiple viewing options and automatic report generation.
DAS & SENSOR OPTIONS

SLICE6 HB

The newest generation of in-dummy DAS. The ultra-small, 6-channel distributed DAS significantly reduces cabling and connectors for a compact integrated solution. Features IEEE 1588 Ethernet, PTPv2 daisy chaining, data writes directly to 16 GB flash memory.

6DX A2

The ultra-small 6DX A2 six degrees of freedom sensor direct-mounts to SLICE6 DAQ for a cable-free solution. The low mass 6DX A2 includes three angular rate sensors, plus three accelerometers in a rugged enclosure.

SLICE NANO

The rugged, miniature SLICE NANO in-dummy DAS solution offers flexibility and simplicity in 3-channel increments. Ideal for complete in-dummy integrations, as well as pedestrian head and legforms. Data writes directly to 16 GB flash memory.

ACC3 PRO – Triaxial Accelerometer

The ACC3 PRO triaxial accelerometer can be integrated into the SLICE Pedestrian Headform. Rugged and ultra-small, the ACC3 PRO sensor package is ideal for applications with tight space constraints in high-shock environments.

ARS3 PRO – Triaxial Angular Rate Sensor

The ARS3 PRO triaxial angular rate sensor can be integrated into the SLICE Pedestrian Headform to measure angular rotation. Ultra-small, the ARS3 PRO fits in tight spaces and is rugged enough to withstand high-shock test environments.
